Two new luxury condominiums will soon join downtown Bellevue’s evolving skyline. The Seattle Times reports these projects as the city’s first new condos in a decade — catering to the increasing demand and shortage of housing in the area.
The first confirmed condo project comes from British Columbia-based development company Bosa. One88 — a 21-story, 143-unit condominium — is the firm’s first Eastside development, and is expected to start construction in early 2018 and complete in late 2019. Located in the city’s urban core at the corner of Bellevue Way Northeast and Northeast Second Street, units range from one and three bedrooms to penthouses. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Vancouver-based Amanat Architect is designing One88, while California-based Hirsch Bedner Associates will design the interiors. Pre-sales are expected to begin late 2017.
Plus Investment, a Chinese and Bellevue company, is planning four mixed-use towers for its Elev8 development, becoming the city’s largest building by square footage. According to Urban Bellevue Living, it has yet to be announced whether or not the residential units will be apartments, condos, or both, but initial plans depict public spaces with retail shops and a movie theater below high-end residences. Located at 110 Avenue Northeast and Northeast Eighth Street, the first phase of construction begins this summer, which includes the two residential towers totaling about 800 units. Elev8 boasts convenient amenities within walking distance.
With major companies expanding in Bellevue like Amazon, Valve, Samsung, and Pokémon, it has never been a better time to own property in the area. In fact, “downtown Bellevue is the fastest-growing neighborhood in the city — presenting opportunities for economic prosperity,” writes Seattle Times business reporter Mike Rosenberg.
